Direction reversal announced for LeCount St after another crash on South St - July 16, 2025

DIRECTION REVERSAL ANNOUCED FOR LECOUNT ST AFTER ANOTHER CRASH ON SOUTH ST - JULY 16

Just a few days after a man was seriously injured at the same location, another driver turning right onto LeCount St hit a pregnant woman on a scooter in the South St bike lane.

Thankfully her injuries were not serious. However, four crashes in two weeks at the same location IS serious – and requires immediate intervention.

Today, neighbors invited Philly Bike Action to use our cones to slow down turning cars and protect bikers during rush hour traffic – a simple & effective demo of what infrastructure can do.

This evening, Council President Kenyatta Johnson announced that the resident petition to reverse the street direction will be expedited as an URGENT TRIAL starting July 18.

We applaud the City for proving that immediate action in response to dangerous street infrastructure is possible.
